WHO IS YOUNG?

Daniel Young is a lawyer-turned-designer, preoccupied since 2011with the challenge of designing a fundamental guidance system for humanity. He has two names for his system, LUCKISM® and NEOLIGION™.

LUCKISM® is intended to be its popular name because it is based on reverence for the universal phenomenon of natural luck, otherwise known as chance, uncertainty or unpredictability. NEOLIGION™ is its logical, analytical name because it is designed to function as a new fundamental belief system in the manner of traditional religions and “isms.”

Although it is not the result of revelation in the traditional religious sense, LUCKISM® deserves the same respect as that given to traditional religions. It has the essential elements of accepted belief systems, namely, convincing belief in omnipresent and omnipotent power grounded in the unknowable and a plan for living based on it. The only thing it doesn’t have at the moment, is an organized group of followers. That requirement is more of an outgrowth of the rules for preferential tax-treatment by the government than a necessary standard. After all, does the operation of gravity need to be approved by the government?

The fake halo, among other things, is Young’s way of showing his alignment with the eternal search for truth and goodness and, at the same time, his belief that anyone can do it. He is nothing more or less than a designer and disclaims any exalted spiritual status.

What he does claim is that his design is based on a verifiable fact which also has paradoxical and numinous qualities. In other words, if we reach limits of knowledge and control in everything we must also reach them in LUCKISM®. So there must always be a modesty and caution in our application of even what we consider our deepest insight.
